The "Sandtrooper" work: Kotobukiya 1/6 aprox.

“Let me see your identification” –Favourite phrase of the Sandtroopers along the Galaxy-

Who doesn´t like those beautiful Star Wars statues by Kotobukiya?  They are nicely sculpted...by not so nicely pre-painted in some cases.  That´s what happens with the weathering of the Sandtroopers. It is really ugly. So I decided to repaint it.
Other problem with these figures is the mould lines. If you want to treat the figure as a scale model you must eliminate those nasty lines. No discussion.
My first intention was to repaint and weather it but after painting the white coat and the shading the angles it looked so good to me that I left it just that way, no weathering at all. He has just got off the shuttle.
To fully repaint these figures it is not affordable if you have dozens of them but they are so wonderfully sculpted that I think it worth the effort to improve some of them.

The "Alien vs Predator" work: Vinyl 1/6.

Ok, a little bit of Sci-Fi again. I love the Alien saga and the Predator saga so the conclusion is obvious; I also love the Alien vs. Predator saga.
This diorama was a commission work I made some years ago with a bunch of 1/6 vinyl figures. There are five Predators and two Aliens, the Predators are designs from the “Predator” and “Predator 2” movies except the sitting Predator that I think is a comic design. The Aliens also have a comic look but are based in the James Cameron´s “Aliens” design.
Of course it was really fun to build, especially the pile of bloody skulls! I tried to combine the poses of the figures in the most natural way possible though it was not easy and I had to change some pose. Anyway a think the result looks nice.
They are supposed to be in the middle of a human hunting post-celebration when suddenly the Aliens attack.
You know…shit happens!

The "Predator" work: Vinyl recast 1/6.

Another Sci-Fi saga I love. The creature designed by Stan Winston is one of the aliens with the most personality in modern science fiction. The figure is a recast vinyl kit that I made years ago for a commission diorama with a bunch of Predators. It´s an old mould based in the Predator 2 movie; I never knew the name of the brand that originally produced it but you still can find the recast kit in some online shops, I think it could be an SFX release.
This was the central figure of the scene so I made some transformation to get a fierce pose by rising arms and head, and adding the skinned skull and the ritual machete. The Predator’s skin was entirely painted with airbrush and Tamiya paints, including the spotted zones. Everything else is hand painted with Vallejo acrylics.
Is healthy to feel like the prey from time to time...
